Content Yang Seung-woo first came to Japan from Korea in 1996, and although it was only after he came into contact with photography when he moved to Tokyo, he went on to win the prestigious Domon Ken Award in 2017 and is now active as a promising photographer. He also holds regular photo Exhibition in his native South Korea, where he enjoys particularly enthusiastic support from young fans. Having come into contact with the sense of stagnation and difficulties in life that the young people of South Korea who attended his exhibitions feel on a daily basis, Yang decided that he would like to photograph them in South Korea, a place he had not been able to sit down and photograph since his early, well-known work, "The Best Days of Youth." Thus began the "Shin Joseon" project. He recruited young people living in Korea who wanted to be models, and then traveled to the desired shooting location of those who contacted him and took their portraits. This time-consuming method resulted in photographing a total of more than 50 people. This work, which will be published as a Photograph Collection by Zen Photo Gallery in September 2024, will include writings by the young people who were photographed about their current thoughts, as well as an afterword by Yang Seung-woo in both English and Korean.
